With good weather expected on Saturday, members arrived just to be let down by the typical British weather. Despite the scrub announcement, spirits were not dampened due to time now being made available to work on jobs around the hangar. This included completing much needed repairs to one of the club’s K21 trailers and other general cleaning jobs to ensure the hangar stays in tip top condition.
Sunday proved to be a lot more fruitful. Blue skies and a steady wind allowed for not 1, but 2 conversion flights. The first congratulations goes to Flt Lt Josh Mann for converting to the club’s Astir aircraft, the first conversion of many for sure! The other congratulations goes to Ian Webb, who converted to a private ASW24, a high performance glider! A well deserved achievement for both. Thanks to the efficiency of the team led by Ian Campbell and Morag Allan, we managed 83 launches and over 10 hours flying time!
For all junior ranks looking at getting into gliding, applications for the 2022 Go Solo Scheme are now open. For more information and to apply, click here.
